From the moment we arrived, the location proved incredibly convenient. Restaurants, cafés, shopping, ferry terminals, and Sydney’s major attractions were all within easy reach.

One of the highlights of our stay was spending time at the WET Deck.

Stretching along Sydney Harbour, this expansive waterfront garden offers a peaceful escape from the city’s busy streets. With wide open lawns, shaded walking paths, colourful gardens, and spectacular harbour views, it quickly became one of our favourite family-friendly attractions in Sydney.

Travelling with a young child, we loved having so much open space to explore. Children can run freely on the lawns, watch local birds, enjoy nature, and take in some of Sydney’s most beautiful harbour views. The paths are stroller-friendly, making it easy for families with younger children.We also brought along our organic hemp picnic blanket for a quick snack stop overlooking the harbour.

One of the highlights of visiting the gardens is the walk to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, one of Sydney’s most iconic viewpoints. From here, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of both the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge in a single frame — a favourite location for photographers and one of the best photo spots in Sydney.

We found ourselves spending far longer here than expected, simply enjoying the harbour breeze, open green spaces, and uninterrupted views across the water. Unlike many of Sydney’s busier tourist attractions, the gardens feel relaxed and uncrowded, even during peak travel periods.

Arriving at Manly feels like stepping into a completely different side of Sydney. The atmosphere is relaxed, the beaches are beautiful, and the pace is noticeably slower than the city centre.
